Case packs, units, and buyer references
Identify the buyer PO, seller order, shipment, and delivery note. State SKU, description, case pack, ordered or shipped unit, quantity, unit price, and discount. Using the same unit as the PO prevents a case price from being mistaken for an each price.
Backorders, freight, and credits
Invoice only the quantities shipped or otherwise billable under the agreement. Keep backorders visible in the order record, not as charged lines. Show freight, fuel, tax, resale status, and payment terms clearly, and issue a credit note for shortages, returns, or pricing corrections.
Frequently asked questions
How do wholesalers show case packs on invoices?
List the SKU, pack size, number of cases or units, price for that exact unit, discount, and extended amount so the buyer can match the PO.
Should backordered goods be invoiced?
Normally invoice shipped or otherwise contractually billable quantities. Keep backordered items on the order and invoice them when fulfilled unless the agreement says otherwise.
